This is the year of extended family photo sessions! I have done so many of these this summer and it warms my heart! Getting Grandma, Grandpa and cousins all mixed in for photos is the best.

How do Extended Family Photo Sessions in Calgary work?

There are a few differences between a regular family photo session with me and an extended family photo session.

• Price. Adding in people does add cost to your session. Each additional person above 6 people is $25 extra. The good part is that often families will split the cost of these big sessions so in the end your are still paying less than you would if you booked me for just your family.
• Time. These sessions do often take a bit longer. I like to allocate 1-1.5 hours.
• Result. If you are wanting more intimate photos with your loved ones it is harder for me to do with a large group. These sessions are getting good photos of everyone in the family, all the combinations (grandparents and grandkids, just cousins, just couples, everyone all together, etc.). I do also do individual family photos but it is a bit different if I had you all to myself 🙂 Less candids than I’d normally do but I still do candids at the end after we’ve got all the ‘need to have’ shots out of the way!
• Amount of Photos. You’re going to get a lot of photos. More than a regular family session for sure. Expect 80-100.

These sessions make Grandparents SO happy. I have had one Grandma this summer that couldn’t stop getting teary eyed looking at her family.
