Sweet Shots Workshops for Moms!

February 20, 2012

Filed in: Workshop

Sweet Shots is my photography workshop especially tailored for Moms. This fun workshop will teach you how to use that nice, fancy camera you have to its full potential. I’ll show you the best places in your home to take photos and how to take creative photos beyond the snapshot.
I realize a professional photography session is an indulgence. A once a year event that gives you the chance to dress up a little and show your family at its best. But I also realize there are TONS of moments during the year that also deserve to be captured – first steps, first bowl of spaghetti, first day of school and all the giggles and fun in between – and these moments deserve to be documented if not professionally at least accurately (exposed correctly and in the best light and hey, if you can throw in some creativity even better!).
From a Mom that took my workshop last year – I took a 3-hour course from you almost a year ago now on using a digital SLR and taking pictures of our kids… I just wanted to say thank you for doing that, it completely changed how I used my camera and I have so many amazing shots from the past year (my son is now 18 months old) that I never would have been able to capture without your workshop. I know you can appreciate what a difference beautiful pictures can make to a person’s or family’s life, and you certainly gave me and my family that gift a year ago.
That above is WHY I do these workshops. It makes me so happy to show you how to take beautiful photos too!
So who is this workshop for?
Moms, Aunts, Grandmas, Sisters, Girlfriends. Do you see the theme here? Yes, all women. I want to have a fun girls class where you feel as comfortable as possible asking any questions you may have.
Anyone that would like to take better photos of their kids. You don’t have to be a Mom but please take note the workshop is tailored towards Mom’s taking photos of their children.
You do not need to have a DSLR camera to take this workshop but it is strongly recommended. I have an extra that can also be shared if you’d like to use it.
Who this workshop is NOT for:
If you already know all the bells & whistles of your camera and can consistently take properly exposed and creative photos you are probably too advanced for this class.
If you are thinking about starting your own photography business this class is not for you. I will not be discussing the business of photography.
What we will cover:
10 tips for taking better photos of your kids
Introduction to Exposure
ISO
Shutter Speed
Aperture
Using your camera’s basic settings – Portrait, Landscape, etc.
Lens overview – the differences between lenses, choosing the best lens
And best of all, you get access to our Sweet Shots Photography Workshop Facebook group after our class where you can post the photos you’ve taken with your new skills, get feedback from me and the group, chat with your new photography loving friends and share resources!
What past participants have said:
“I probably learned more taking your workshop than I learned taking a 6 week photography course at SAIT.”
“Thank you so much for the amazing workshop Virginia, it was well worth the trip down from Edmonton!”
“I can’t believe how easy it is on manual! And almost every shot I’m taking is a keeper so I’m taking WAY less of them. Sigh..Virginia? You freakin’ rock. I’m soooo happy I took this class before her birthday!”
“To be honest your handy book is always with me although my camera isn’t! I refer to it all the time, especially right before I take the shots.”

“I think you did a great job of focusing on the key points and information that we needed to get taking better pictures.”
“Thank you SO much for all that great, detailed feedback, and for taking the time to edit those shots so I could see your perspective.”
*NEW – Advanced Workshop!
