A little about me. I'm a Mom of three myself, I've been photographing Calgary families for 14 years and I never take myself too seriously :)
I hope this little guide answers all of your questions and gives you a good idea of what to expect from a session with me!

Once you let me know your due date I will pencil it into my calendar.
We don't actually book the session date until you've had the baby. Typically we'll schedule it within the first two to three weeks of birth.
I will send you a guide to help you along with what to wear for your photos as well as a link to a Pinterest board with ideas. If you'd like to send me photos of what you're thinking of wearing by all means do.
I'm here to help!
This is also when I want you to tell me exactly what you're looking for from our session.
I'll send you a short questionnaire to fill out that will help get us both on the same page. Now don't let this scare you. If you have no idea what you want that is fine too!
Some people just want me to do my thing and that is A-okay with me :)
After all, these are YOUR photos and I want you to love them!
Newborn sessions are simple, natural and relaxed. I want to photograph you and your baby as you are. Taking time to watch your interactions, leaving you to be with one another helps me get those natural photos we love. I try to capture a mix of candid and some posed images.
Before the Session
Day of Your Session
Here we are!
I'll send you a reminder the day before just so that we're all on track.
I'll come to your home at our agreed upon time and you just need to make sure you're awake and dressed!
Expect that I'll be at your home for 1-1.5 hours. I won't be taking photos the entire time.
This leaves us time for baby to feed and get cuddles if needed.
Typically we'll use a few different spots in your home to get a good variety in your photos.
Master bedrooms have good light and I love shooting in the nursery!
If you have other children as well I will always get lots of photos of them too. While I call it a newborn session it really is like a family session. Lots of baby but lots of photos of the family as well. With littler siblings I find it works best if we don't push it. When they are ready for a picture I will take several but it's definitely okay for them to take lots of breaks and come in and out of the room. Forcing a toddler to hold a newborn never goes well!
Once I feel like I've gotten a good variety of images and the ones you were hoping for we're done!
After Your Session
Okay now the easy part for you!
Sit back and relax, I'll take care of the rest.
My editing style is simple. I want your photos to be timeless. Flawless skin, great light, vibrant colours.
You can expect to see all your edited images in two weeks. They'll be presented to you in a custom made slideshow that you can share with friends and family as well as a password protected gallery from which you can order products.
Yes. ALL of the edited images files are included in your session fee!
(Cue happy dance!)
The files can be downloaded immediately from your online gallery.

This will probably happen and it's totally fine! We have lots of time for cuddles and feeding to make them as happy and as comfortable as possible. In 14 years I've only had to come back once to a home where the baby was inconsolable.
Yes! If you have kids I expect your house will have some mess. Please don't worry about this, it doesn't faze me at all. If needed, I'll help you move furniture/clutter around as we go. I've photographed in hundreds of homes and I've never found one that didn't work. Every home has good light, some I just need to search for a bit more than others.
This is probably one of the biggest worries of parents before a session. I get it! You've got high hopes and you just want everyone to be on their best behaviour. I have a lot of patience with kids. Whether they're shy, over-excited, you name it, I find the more easy-going I am the better the results. I'll never get frustrated. I love playing with kids and the goofier I am, the more relaxed they are with me.
Believe it or not this is very common for my clients to say to me. None of the people you see on my website are models. They're all everyday people. I have my tricks to make you look your best.
Absolutely.
There is an optional Model Release Contract to sign but if you'd prefer to keep your images private you may request at that time.
You bet! They're a member of your family after all. Pets are welcome to join in!
I recommend skipping props in order to focus on the connection between baby and parents. However I do have a collection of wraps and blankets that I bring with me to supplement what you have at home.
I would describe my style as a mix of both posed and candid moments. I think it's important to capture a few classic shots of everyone looking at the camera but I love all those in between moments as well.

After that I'll have you sign the Photo Session Contract and submit a deposit online to secure your session date. The remaining balance is due the day of our session.
